Our Researchers Attend the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference 2017

Our researchers from the John P. Hussman Institute for Human Genomics (HIHG) attended the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference (AAIC) from July 16-20 in London, England. Attendance included Dr. Margaret Pericak-Vance, Director of the HIHG, Dr. Jeffery Vance, Dr. Gary Beecham, Dr. Katrina Celis, Dr. Michael Cuccaro, Dr. Holly Cukier, Dr. Brian Kunkle, Dr. Eden Martin, Dr. Farid Rajabli, Patrice Whitehead, Kara Hamilton-Nelson, and Larry D. Adams. The AAIC is the largest international meeting dedicated to advancing dementia science. Researchers from more than 70 countries attended the conference, of which the theme revolved around public health, lifestyle changes, and health disparities in genomic medicine.

Several important abstracts from the HIHG were submitted which address these important issues, including data involving diverse participants. The initial clinical findings of the Puerto Rican Alzheimer’s Disease Initiative (PRADI), an NIH funded grant dedicated to the discovery of genetic contributions to Alzheimer’s Disease risk and protective variants within Puerto Rican datasets, were presented during the conference.
